Riding the Inspiration Wave: An Upcycled Look!

Hi Everyone,

Happy April! End of April that is. πŸ™‚

Sitting pretty! πŸ™‚

It seems like the last day of the month is definitely becoming our touch base. I hope you have been well these past weeks. πŸ™‚ I am here to inspire and share with you my latest sewing adventure.

Apart from celebrating another birthday this month I bumped up on an inspiration wave with this particular two-piece look. The vision was semi-clear but the actions needed to support the final piece was me actually creating the piece. You all know that sketching is not my strong suit. I need to bring the vision to life by actually creating the piece. Fabric to pin to machine! πŸ™‚

I have made a few upcycled pieces before and enjoyed the transformation of the new garment to something new or not what you would expect based on the fabric. It’s fun.

The process is rewarding. The fact that I am reusing materials is good for the environment. I hope I can do more of these in the future. I had these two pair of jeans set aside a few years ago to upcycle them but never got around to it until now. It was definitely worth the wait.

You can say it was the perfect pairing when you look at the way in which the denim matched up with the cotton geometric print or just creative luck that they go together. Whichever one I absolutely adore the final product of this self drafted look.

It reminds me of something retro and bohemian and makes for a versatile summer festival look that can be worn in so many different ways. Can you see it? Denim on Denim? Here are some variations to inspire you. Check out the pocket details on the back.

Up-Close

The details of the skirt took me a minute to sew but it was worth it. The top was a previous self drafted pattern of my summer breeze top collection so I didn’t spend too much time on that piece as I already knew where I wanted the details to reside.

The Denim details

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Have you tried upcycling before? What do you think of mixing the old and the new to create something unique?

Until we meet again, I wish you an awesome start to May and I can’t wait to come back, hopefully more than once in May to grace your browsers with more creative adventures and wardrobe inspiration.

The journey continues.

Continue to stay safe!

Blessings

Uta
