It was that serious……
Yes…. dress rehearsals. Trying on my outfits prior to an event. It didn’t matter how small the event was I made sure I did a run through to test for a few things.
- Fit- Too tight, too big? Bulky, bunching, too long , too short Etc.
- Function-do I have pockets? Would dancing be a problem? Can I sit?What if I fall?…hmmmmm… would I be embarrassingly exposed?Can I reach up? Can I bend?
- Style- Did the look make sense for the event? Would it be typical? Do I stand out? Would I run into someone else wearing the same thing?
I know the list sounds a bit extreme. But guys… it worked for me.. And it became so routine that soon after going through those steps was natural as walking and didn’t seem laborious in any way. It became my style process.
Now when I look back I can say.. I was developing that eye of what works for me.
It served its purpose and I am happy to say that I no longer do that so much in detail. But with a quick glance and more so knowing what’s in my closet I put my outfits together easily. 🙂 You can say the process now takes place in my mind before I even get to the closet!
What’s your get ready process in selecting something to wear? Do you have a mini dress rehearsal? I would love to hear.
Thanks for tuning in to part 2 of my mini Monday style series in May! See you next week!
