Five (5) I am taking into May!

Happy Tuesday and last day of April 2024!

Styling in non me-made clothing: An April moment and time I am most definitely taking with me always! πŸ’

It’s May already and just like that the first quarter is finished. How are you feeling? Are you where the year is or elsewhere?

What I made in April: Elodie Dress by Closet Core Patterns. I made this one in April as well.

Another year around the sun and I am super grateful and thinking aloud in the process. I think I am where the year is, but ever so often I have to bring myself to have an appreciation for all the things that are moving and not solely focus on ones that aren’t.

What I wore in April: Beryl by Fibremood Dress. I made this one last year. Styled differently here with Jeans!

These are a few things that are on my mind as I reflect on the month of April. I share some of the me-made moments of new pieces and old ones created in April.

What I made in April: Dallas Cape Dress by Fibremood! (My last make for April).

April was a month of reflection and celebration. My own learnings when I look at the past three months:

  1. Focus on the present – this means a lot of things for a lot of people but the meaning I have attached to this is to really be present in how my day unfolds in the midst of all the plans and dreams. This makes pivoting not as stressful
  2. Make the full list and then make a smaller one that speaks to the things you really want to and can realistically get done that week – who else is out here struggling with the weekly to do lists? I know I am not alone. We can talk about this one for a minute but really I have made peace with being realistic about how many things I can get done in a given week covering relationships, business, work and for myself.
  3. It really isn’t a sprint – I know how it feels, but it ain’t when you are building. Sigh! This one I am reminded of every single month. I look at the lofty plans and then I look at what I actually get to complete or the people I get to connect with and I shake my head. It’s a marathon and the finish line can’t be assumed. Be open and embrace the pace.
  4. Leave room for spontaneity – I have had a few spontaneous moments within the last six months and I would like to move ahead by making room for them to happen. The planner gone rogue… not really but yeah! πŸ™‚
  5. Celebrate, celebrate celebrate – yes, I said it. And like the lists, being present, and not thinking it’s a sprint – this looks different to everyone. Find what’s your way of celebrating that works for you and do it. Cringe or no cringe – do it! Even if it’s a dance break, a bookstore browse, an ice coffee, a movie night, cooking, baking or a day of nothing! Do it!

There you have it, the five (5) things I am specifically taking with me or focusing on throughout May. There are many others but these are intersectional for relationships, business and work, I think.

The first step is just that – the first step!

Of course, I have a long list for May, but I have the smaller one too. I can’t wait to share where we land in May when we connect again.

Thanks again for being a part of the sewing and entrepreneurship journey! It really wouldn’t be the same without all of you here. I appreciate it!

Bless

Uta
